Most electric door have (or can be fitted with) externally accessible manual overrides, so I can't imagine a major problem.

Yes, both my auto garage doors have release devices, key operated on the outside, cable operated on the inside.

Have always had internal manual releases on my electric doors but didn't realise you also got external.

So then why does the OP say electric doors are not an option as there is no pedestrian access??

Choice I guess. The key operated external release was an optional extra on my doors, so they can be released from the outside in the event of a power cut, which happens now and again here. The key releases the barrel of the lock which is then used to pull the same cable that is the internal release.
