My July 2019 Macan with just 5000 miles recorded has just announced that I need to change the oil in approx 60 days, I was under the impression that that these engines would run for 2 years or 20000 miles before an oil change was required.

This has been covered many times on here.

Some Porsches monitor the condition of the oil and suggest an oil change before 2 years or 20,000 miles.

My 2017 Panamera wanted an oil change after only 10,000 miles and then wanted another oil change at the 20,000 service (sooner than 2 years, as about 17,000 miles covered in the first year).

^^
Yup. “Porsche” engines, 2 yrs 20 000 miles
“Audi” engines, time and distance settings so oil quality dependant (and on 5000 miles in 9 months the oil will have become diluted due to majority of shorter runs )

^^^ Although, strangely, my Panamera 4 (with its 3.0 V6 ‘Audi’ petrol engine) covered 10,000 miles quite quickly on mostly motorway runs and had completed 17,000 miles within 12 months. 🤔

So does a Dec 2017 Macan S have a Porsche engine or an Audi engine?

Won’t be a 2.0 if it’s a Macan S ;)

All we are told in the original enquiry is that its a 2019 July Macan. so definitely VW/Audi engine irrespective of size. But fabMacan's profile quote says 2019 Macan S.

On its mix of 7500 miles long trips, 2000 miles less than 40 miles trips to date, my Apr 2019 Macan S was predicting about 19.5 K for 1st oil change. When it gets its weekly run out tomorrow of 30 to 40 miles, I will look to see what impact 5 lockdown weeks no long runs has had on the prediction of 1st oil change
