Hi all, what are the towbar options?
I can get a OEM electrically retractable towbar from the local dealer, however, I would prefer a fixed one for my bike carrier.
For context, I have Thule roof-rack, for my MTB. It works well with MTB, however, I am considering buying an e-MTB, which will be more difficult to get on-off the roof. So I am investigating towbar mount and I think fixed t/b will be better suited for a +20kg eMTB hanging at the back of the car.

Porsche towbar will be covered by Porsche warranty if you car is still covered. load should be fine as I think the nose weight is 100kg. Fixed or detachable 3rd party tow bars are available and will be considerably cheaper than the official electrically retractable towbar. Rear diffuser will probably need cutting to fit a 3rd party towbar.

I have the OEM one and have used it for towing my race car as well as for bike carriers, and it is great.

Thanks guys, the OEM installation looks neat. I think it makes good sense as my vehicle is 1YO and I don’t want to cut anything cut!
I would have thought that 3rd party T/B installation would just bolt on to the body/frame. The OEM/Thule 4-bike installation looks rather convincing.

All tow bars basically attach in the same way - i.e. a tow bar frame that attaches to the car chassis. The only thing that then changes is the head and the electronics. A swivelling, removable or fixed head all then attach to the frame.
