Good article - makes sense. I concur with the wheel bearings and other rotating items too.

I remember from years ago that a work colleague advocated driving gently on new tyres for the first 50-100 miles and he always got better mileage out of a set than I ever did, so that makes sense.

Our SE advised me to vary the revs for the first thousand miles, but IIRC he advised a 3,000 rpm limit? Anyway, my first journey home from Belfast is 50 miles on a motorway with not much chance to vary revs. He advised using different gears occasionally on the first journey home to avoid a constant engine speed. Which I thought made sense.
