I’ve recently bought a used 2020 Macan S, and one thing I’ve noticed when driving on the motorway at the legal limit is the exhaust drone from the rear of the car...this is quite a deep constant sound.
My car has the standard ‘S’ exhaust system.
As this is my first experience of owning a Macan, can any other S’ owners confirm if this is the same with their car, and is there any way of reducing the drone, apart from turning your music up lol!!
Macan S Exhaust Drone
Can’t say I’ve noticed anything to be fair - I find ours a good long distance companion.

Drive at 80?
Pls forgive my sense of humour. But no, don't notice such problems, myself. Too quiet, if anything, virtually unnoticeable.
But is it a drone? Could be a vibration of some sort if something dislodged from proper position or not held in place properly.
Have you checked out all the obvious - towbar in correct rest position if you have one, spare wheel/jack securely in place if you have one, toolkit held in situ in wheelwell area ok, exhaust hooks all suspending correctly?
Etc etc.

I haven’t yet checked the exhaust mounts, but as I don’t have a tow bar or spare wheel, I can rule these two suggestions out, however, the wheel brace and air compressor are secure. I have already booked the car in with my OPC for them to take a look.

I checked the rear exhaust system mounts this morning, and all appear to be secure, however, I did notice that the exhaust flap valve on the offside outer most pipe was fully open with the engine off, but I don’t know of this is normal? Having seen this flap valve, I am now wondering if this is operating correctly and could it be the source of the drone I’m experiencing?

Does that flap remain open with a warm engine? Might be worth having someone else start the car, outside with a cold engine, while you check which pipes are open. Check the pipes during a couple of minutes warm up to see if the discharge switches over and the noise changes. Car should be in normal drive mode.AllanG wrote: ↑Sat Nov 28, 2020 3:51 pm I checked the rear exhaust system mounts this morning, and all appear to be secure, however, I did notice that the exhaust flap valve on the offside outer most pipe was fully open with the engine off, but I don’t know of this is normal? Hi nick, I have a 2015 turbo, I paid to have the sport exhaust fitted, for what it cost it is crap, also noticed the other day, upon start up, put it in sport exhaust mode, only one valve opens, took it to Porsche and they said the other valve opens at a certain revs, u personally think it’s bullshit, because you have two completely different back pressures in the boxes till the other valve opens, this does not seem right.
Doesn’t the other valve open after the warm up stage - seems to be what happens on both of mine.reynard wrote: ↑Sat Nov 28, 2020 7:17 pm Hi nick, I have a 2015 turbo, I paid to have the sport exhaust fitted, for what it cost it is crap, also noticed the other day, upon start up, put it in sport exhaust mode, only one valve opens, took it to Porsche and they said the other valve opens at a certain revs, u personally think it’s bullshit, because you have two completely different back pressures in the boxes till the other valve opens, this does not seem right.
