My Macan S in to local OPC for MOT yesterday, I asked them to check for a vibration/judder that I have on driving away from standing, but interestingly not obvious in reverse.
They came back to me later to say the transfer box was faulty, & did I want it changed under warranty? So obviously the answer was a yes, car may be finished today or Saturday as it is 5 hours labour to change one!
It will be interesting to see if the new box is smoother etc than the last one. The reason I mention this is that the loan car is a 23 reg Macan T in the lovely colour of Copper Ruby Metallic, the drive is a lot quieter and smoother than my car.
I must say that I am quite surprised @ how well the Macan T drives but deffo does not have the V6 urge of the S !
Transfer Box replacement
Okay so picked the car up tonight with the new transfer box fitted, I can’t believe the difference in the driving experience, way much better, much smoother take up from start, no jerking/lumpy progress when manoeuvring at low speed. I struggle to understand why I have not noticed how poor the driving experience had become. Thank goodness for Porsche extended warranty.

Great result Todie.

Mine is a October 2016 Macan S diesel 29500 miles only and I noticed a few weeks ago a juddering on pulling away from rest. Initially I thought it was the road surface as if one was driving over ripples.
After a while I contacted a Porsche Specialist who told me there were issues with Macan transfer boxes..
I then contacted my local OPC Wilmslow and explained matters to the service receptionist asking whether a goodwill gesture would be made by Porsche GB.
I got a text back from the service manager to say the extended warranty ran out on the 7 th anniversary of registration ie October 21st 2023. I immediately rang said OPC requesting another call to explain. No call back so I rang again…..no call back!
I wasn’t aware of any extended warranty on the transfer box, and if I was, I would have been looking for anything strange with the drive train.
Anyway I called at the OPC today and pleaded to speak to the service manager. He couldn’t be found so again I explained things requesting a call which I got two hours later….result!
However to be told that the transfer box was a common issue and I’ve missed out on a free replacement is devastating as I understand it’s a £2500 plus job.
I can only hope that Porsche GB will come up with a goodwill gesture as it’s 6 weeks out of warranty. Fingers crossed!
And I thought Porsches were bullet proof!

Maybe a £2500 job at an OPC, but much much cheaper if you get a Porsche independent to do it.

Try Stockpot OPC...only a couple of miles away from wilmslow. I've used Stockport a few times for service, mot, warranty stuff and updates. Always been good

Mine was replaced in 2020 at 46,986miles – Replacement Transfer Box – Porsche Silverstone
Does that mean I have 7 years from 2020 or is it still 7 years from date of reg?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
New to the forum but after some advice on replacement transfer box.
I have a January 2016 Macan SD which requires a new transfer box. I have been to my local OPC Dick Lovett in Tewkesbury previously (whilst TB was covered by 7 year warranty) and asked them to look at potential vibration from TB to which they diagnosed tyre Judder. Fast forward 10 months and guess what the TB needs replaced now as showing signs of failing. Long story short Porsche have offered me an £800 goodwill gesture towards the repair which I can use to buy the parts or towards the total repair. Total cost £1949.92 inc VAT. I was wondering if anyone could recommend an independent garage who would be able to carry out the repair as I’m guessing this would be significantly cheaper.
Cheers
