What is the normal oil temperature for a petrol S once it has warmed up? Mine with only 400 miles on the clock tends to run at about 100 - 102 degrees with water at 90 degrees, is this normal? Seems a bit high to me, but I'm more used to gas turbine lube oil systems!

Maybe I should also have asked where the temperature probe is situated, is it in the sump, the pump outlet line, the oil cooler inlet or where? That would then help explain the temperature you would expect to see. In fact that shows how liitle research on the engine I've done as I don't even know if it's dry sump or the more traditional wet sump, must find out.

My SD seems to run at about the same oil temp - 100 to 102. I have no idea about engines or sumps though!
No longer part of the Porsche Family. Now enjoying a Giulia Quadrifoglio.

Don't worry, you oil temp should be much warmer than the coolant. Up to 120 or 130 deg IIRC.
Bigbaldybloke,
My petrol S oil and water temps (with 1850 miles on the clock) are the same as yours once fully warmed up. The petrol engine is dry sumped by the way, which is presumably why the oil pressure is lower than most wet sump engines.

As above, water temp 90 ish most of the time, oil mid to high 90s on the open road and over 100 in trafic. (GTS, so I guess a valid comparison)
