Gah, didn't want this to be my first post on the forum, but after only 8 days of Macan ownership another potential transfer box issue.
Its a late 2015 Macan S, literally hit 30k miles over the weekend. Purchased from an indie dealer in late Dec 18', I actually felt something everso slightly odd pulling away on the test drive. It had just had 4x new tyres so both myself and the dealer chalked it up to them having not developed full grip.
Have a slot booked in to formally diagnose with OPC near me, but has all the same characteristics other mentioned; a feeling that gears 'slip' when pulling away/judder, more pronounced on a hill heading upwards, with right lock on. Same issue when reversing. It's quite subtle at this stage, so it's only having read this forum that I'm now imagining the worse...
Even thought it's only about 2 months out of Porsche warranty, OPC seemed pretty adamant they wouldn't cover it, despite cases on this forum seeming to rack up. I do have an RAC warranty, plus coverage in the first three months from the indie dealer, but still unbelievably frustrating.

Not a very good welcome to the forum, but welcome nonetheless!
Hopefully the RAC warranty (or indeed the supply dealer if the warranty company decline) will sort at no cost to yourself.

Welcome paulyonder!
Yes, frustrating that you have a potential transfer box issue so soon after buying the car, but looking at the positives, if the 'box has failed it should be replaced foc by the supplying dealer and then you have the comfort of knowing you have a new, modified box that should last a long time.
(Snap, Paul, great minds post alike!)

Thanks all for the welcomes; it as a friendly place round here! Will keep everyone updated as to how I get on next week. Going to keep an eye on these threads too, there does certainly appear to be somewhat of a pattern emerging.Wing Commander wrote: ↑Mon Jan 07, 2019 1:07 pm Welcome, Paul.

Just to close the loop on this, I collect my Macan tomorrow after being diagnosed with a failed transfer box. Went out with the OPC tech to diagnose; I hadn't even got off the forecourt when he turned me round...paulyonder wrote: ↑Mon Jan 07, 2019 9:38 am Gah, didn't want this to be my first post on the forum, but after only 8 days of Macan ownership another potential transfer box issue.

RAC warranty coughed up (most, not all of the cost), after an insane amount of pain. At one point, they wanted the case sent off to a 'transmission specialist' for 3rd party assessment No guidance on who this was, was just told to "find one".
Needless to say, the Porsche 'Official' Warranty seems the way to go, despite the price premium; lesson learned there.
Interestingly, the chap I eventually spoke to at RAC said he'd had "four Macans in the last eight days" with transfer box failures. This was first week of Jan.
Can confirm I had the revised design part installed too. For ref. the part number is 95B341010AX.

I'm still interested to know why the supplying dealer didn't fix this for free under the statutory warranty?paulyonder wrote: ↑Fri Jan 25, 2019 5:10 pmJust to close the loop on this, I collect my Macan tomorrow after being diagnosed with a failed transfer box. I feel for all those that have had transfer box replacements. However, the onus to fix must surely be on Porsche? Why haven't they issued a recall? Why do so many people feel that £1500 to extend a warranty to cover a t /box failure is the way forward? Yes I am a Porsche fan but just because the majority of us can afford the warranty, surely this is not good or fair practice. Manufacturing something which is not fit for purpose and then getting customers to insure against its failure, is not on. Transfer boxes shoukd not fail under 100,000 miles of use and to accept this without a fight is not the way forward. Ask Porsche for statistics on t/b failures then get a good lawyer.
