So the GtK guide says (and http://www.porscheownersmanuals.com/2017-macan-manual/14/297/Transmission )

Shift to N - Neutral using shift paddles

> Pull both shift paddles simultaneously and release them again immediately.
The transmission shifts to N - Neutral

Every time I get the car back from the OPC, I try this and it never seems to work and it hasn't worked in the half a dozen or so Macans I've now driven.

I've tried when moving slowly in D, S, S+. In manual mode, in auto mode, in auto+manual mode.

I've tried when stopped, with and without the parking brake.

Is the GtK lying or perhaps it's a US (or not-UK) thing?
Or maybe I'm just not doing it right.

Anyone managed to do this?

Tried it in the SD when the topic was raised a while back with no success.
I'll give it a go in the GTS next time I'm out.

Not tried it, can't think when I'd want to do it?

Yea, it's redundant for most people as Porsche's double clutch gearbox still has a lever.

You could use it as an hard/explicit way to introduce coasting (trying to change higher than the max gear possible does this also, but not always and it's a bit clunky).

You might want to use it for more aggressive slip control (like dipping the clutch, back end goes out, dump clutch).

For me it's a niggle - I've driven cars where this is the only way to get to neutral, and seeing it in the GtK for the 2017 model, was quite excited. Then disappointed to find it didn't really work :(

A bit like the ⬦ key not being assignable to surround cameras. Something that was fixed with a software update.

I can't get it to select neutral by pulling both paddles quickly at the same time

I went out and did a few unusual situation tests the other day. Mostly in S+, off throttle or hard braking. Still no joy.

Ditto over the weekend in the GTS; tried every variation I could think if with no joy. Maybe the glide mode being standard (effectively neutral selection by the car) means the manual selection paddle function has been deleted?

I think this is reversed for the 'proper' sports cars in the range ;)

Worked fine on my Boxster and 911's I've driven in the past.

I think it works differently again for proper sports cars, like the GT3 - like hold both paddles for N and release to back into gear.
