Porsche two year service on a Macan 2.0 L . Oil supplied Mobil 1 Esp 0w-30. classed as (C30)
Recommended oil by Mobil web site and the Porsche UK contact: The engine oil for the Macan 2L, Macan S, Macan GTS and Macan Turbo all use Porsche A40 engine oils. The Macan S Diesel would use Porsche C30.
The Owners Handbook shows the oil Macan 2L petrol shown as C30 oil page 119 & 368 as on the Porsche service computer.
Cannot get a rational explanation from Porsche why they specify this grade oil Esp 0w-30 for the Macan 2.0 L petrol engine and not the
Mobil FS 0 w -40 classed (A40)
PORSCHE OIL-GATE 2.0L MACAN
I suspect the Mobil web site info is out of the date. I have seen info which suggests Porsche recommendations changed from A classified oils to C classified oils with the introduction of particle filters for the petrol-engined models. Also suspect no harm in using C classified oil in an earlier pre particle filter car.

Very interesting, is the Macan 2L the only petrol engine fitted with particle filters. As all other larger petrol engines in the handbook use A40 oil

Just to clarify a Macan 2L march 2017 would not have a particle filter and would use Mobil A40 oil
Do they give the option of taking your own oil?
I'd be very dubious about using a 0W-30 which isn't advised in the manual.
Personally would be happier with the 5W-50 A40 M1 which is allowed.

I've had my new, facelifted Macan S for a month now. In the handbook it states that for petrol engines up to 400 hp, with particulate filters, the oil to use is Mobil 1 SAE 0W-20. But on the sticker in the engine bay says Mobil 1 SAE 0W-30. The OPC, whence I purchased the car, advised me to go with what the sticker said, SAE 0W-30.
0W-20 is horribly thin!RAA wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2019 10:02 am I've had my new, facelifted Macan S for a month now. I wonder how much of the advice is about fuel economy and how much engine longevity?

I would like to see an article in Chrisophorus the Porsche magazine on the Recommended oil for all Macan models as there seems to be a lot of conflicting information on the correct oil that should be used by Porsche and Mobil.
When in doubt, I would do what the sticker in engine-bay says, as it would be the latest info at the time of production of the vehicle.
It is possible that a “service bulletin” comes out with new recommendations for a specific set of circumstances, e.g. driving in Congo or Alaska, but in the UK we should be fine with standard.
