This feature, which I believe is standard on all models, appears to be permanently activated which is good.
However, it seems to be a bit hit and miss on my vehicle.
When on a steep incline or with ACC on, it applies the handbrake automatically when the car comes to a stop and the green HOLD notification appears in the dash.
However, when coming to a stop in normal traffic and applying the footbrake firmly sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
Just wondering if I'm doing something wrong? Should i read the manual?!
Hold assist
I find that a quick ‘jab’ on the brake pedal generally works.CliveH wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 4:58 pm This feature, which I believe is standard on all models, appears to be permanently activated which is good.

Yes it takes a while to get to know how much of a jab. You need to lift your leg to get some 'height', rather than rolling off the throttle pedal, to engage it I found.Makanik wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 5:09 pmI find that a quick ‘jab’ on the brake pedal generally works.CliveH wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 4:58 pm This feature, which I believe is standard on all models, appears to be permanently activated which is good.

We have a new Leon that gives the option of automatically putting it on HOLD when the car is braked to a halt on the flat [or an incline]. Pity the twice as expensive Macan doesn't have the same system. Perhaps the facelift MY2019 does have it?

I always find one extra firm push on the pedal after coming to a halt was enough to engage hold on the Macan.

Yes, of course you should! There's lots of interesting stuff in there
It's probably just getting used to how hard and quickly you need to jab the pedal to activate Hold. It's useful to remember that when Hold is activated the brake lights are on, letting others approaching from behind that you are stopped. I often use the parking brake instead, particularly at night, to avoid dazzling the driver stopped behind me.

If you wait until you come to a holt and then “jab” the brake pedal it should engage auto-hold. Works fine once you get used to it.
