Parking Sensor - False Alarms
I welcome your input to help understand the scale of an issue with the Macan factory fitted ParkAssist. Since experiencing an intermittent problem with my own vehicle I have read various reports of similar cases where either the sensors are triggering for no reason or not triggering and owners encountering damage. Please contribute to help understand if these are isolated cases, or if this is a wider issue. Thank you for your contribution.
I voted for all except "PCM appears but no beeps"

For "Sensors did not trigger when close to an object" - I've sometimes got really close to something to the side of the rear of the car, but no rear sensor fire. Keep reversing and the front sensor picks it up.

All Macans have Reversing Sensors that
ideally warn the driver before the
rear bumper actually comes into contact
with something.
Surprisingly though this feature was not developed by
modern automotive engineers using latest technologies. It was disclosed
recently that the first use of Reversing Sensors was in fact a Chinese Farmer.
His invention was simple and effective. It
emits a high-pitch squeal
when the vehicle backs into something.

Mine regularly go off when there is nothing anywhere near the car. Â It's the most annoying feature of the carÂ

The most annoying factor is that they activate in traffic when I am not trying to park. Wife's LR activates when the car goes into reverse or you press the button to activate them. Much better system. I suppose it could stop you driving into the car in front in stop-start traffic if you weren't paying attention though.
I find mine work pretty good and better than previous cars in many respects. they are sensitive and seem to pick up dust, smoke and definitely water spray from other cars etc. I like the fact they come on automatically, can't see how this can be a bad thing.
If you stop at the traffic lights a bit close to the car in front or the car behind stops close to you, it starts beeping until you move (might be 2 minutes with some traffic lights) or you turn them off. You then have to remember to turn them back on. It is quite annoying sometimes.

My front ones would beep and indicate when braking for junctions & roundabouts. It turned out to be loose ends of the front plastic number plates, I had fitted my own with screws but not secured at either end and able to move under braking; resolved by using a sticky pad under each end. Movement was very small but enough to trigger the sensors. New car has metal plates, no flex, as fitted by the dealer.
