Just when you thought Porsche couldn't make their digital offerings any more confusing, they've renamed it to "My Porsche."
Well a bit of it.
My Porsche (nee Porsche Connect Portal)
I am hoping someone will look in detail at the system and post what the differences are (other than the name).

After reading a nice email from Porsche I got excited and had a look.
Appears to me a name change only
That was needed but would of been nice to add something new.
GTS
Well, I'm not sure I can explain the differences as I don't pick up my car until Thursday, but I am being showered with messages to download the My Porsche app (iOS) and apply for various safety/security extras for £225 p.a. which I'm not sure I need. They're obviously keen to upsell this, as I got another call from Vodafone Telematics as well.
I can now sound the horn and flash the lights at the poor buggers who are doing the PDI and I can see that the car has been moved from the storage facility to the showroom!
If I can see where my car is and put a geofence round it (and set a maximum speed fence), why would I want to pay £225 for a glorified Tracker?

Trouble is that it is not a glorified tracker, its a flaky tracker system at best.oldpilot wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2017 6:45 pm Well, I'm not sure I can explain the differences as I don't pick up my car until Thursday, but I am being showered with messages to download the My Porsche app (iOS) and apply for various safety/security extras for £225 p.a. which I'm not sure I need. It relies on the Vodafone network for the signals which to me is the problem.

Look forward to some pictures when you collect
The geofence etc is handy but that's not a tracker as it can be disabled in a couple of seconds once in the car and your app then stops working.
The Vodafone tracker I feel falls way short of the alternative trackers.
And Vodafone seem to charge a premium too
The alternative trackers I have used are far superior imo and can be very handy if your insurance requires it or you want peace of mind. Or in the event of a theft you have a very high chance of getting your car back so you don't have to make a claim for a very high amount affecting premiums for years to come. Generally recovered in a very short space of time and car genrally all in tact. They don't steal these type of cars to joyride but to export and sell on so ideally in perfect condition.
Like always these services we pay for we really never want to use.....
GTS
Curiously when I discussed this with my salesman, he suggested that it was not the best idea to go for the safety and security features. When I asked why, he explained that if you have GAP insurance, most people would rather get a replacement new vehicle than have one recovered that might have a considerable amount of damage.Kasfranks99 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2017 8:00 pm

This is different to My Porsche which is related to the PCM Connect App and the Infotainment system.
To confuse things the tracker and so called security system is Car Connect and is a Vodafone system and this has subscription.
Mind you the My Porsche is currently free but does become subscription based.
