After nearly 4 weeks of ownership I've mostly figured out Connect Plus for Model Year 2018.
The car comes with an 'always on' data connection through an embedded sim card. This data connection is used for live traffic and Google Earth in Navigation mode and by the apps in the Apps menu as well as maps updates. You get this free for the first two years then it's £159 a year.
You register for the service on My Porsche using a link from the OPC and as part of this process you get a pairing code. You use this pairing code to link your PCM to your MyPorsche account.
There is also a Connect app for your smartphone, and this has an impact on which apps are available on your PCM screen, and what these apps display.
Once you've used your pairing code the following apps are available over two screens.

Screen 2
Here's an example screen shot from the Fuel Prices app. Data is used from the embedded sim.
However, when I connect to the Connect App on my phone a couple of things happen. First I get access to more apps. But also the News app and Twitter app contain personalised feeds (if you've done this in My Porsche). Additional apps shown below.
Here's an example of Amazon Music - again, data is used from the embedded sim card.
A couple of things I need to check with my OPC. I'm finding the app can sometimes take a while to automatically connect to the car and if I'm plugged into the USB in the centre console the app won't connect.
Overall though it works pretty well, and much better than I was expecting.

I've just purchased a 2017 turbo but my apps section is pathetic by comparison. I have POIs, napster, radio. That's it. Is there a way to activate these apps that you are showing? If especially like the Amazon music app as this is where all my playlists sit.
Thanks

Thanks. I've literally just found this out. The dealer never mentioned this to me. I've tried to register today but their systems are being updated. Lol..CharlesElliott wrote: ↑Sun Feb 04, 2018 12:33 pm Have you registered on the Porsche Connect website and then linked PCM to that?
Hopefully this will fix my issue.
Thanks for the assistance
