From memory, proximity puts a message up on the PCM screen but doesn’t make a noise. I have a Cheetah device for speed cameras.

That would explain a lot.
I have a cheetah too, just trying to become wire free.

I'd be interested to know how it's possible to upload the speed camera database to the PCM. Would be useful given my Road Angel has just gone tits up! If someone has a link I would be most grateful

Can’t understand why anyone would want to know where the speed cameras are. But anyway, around us they’re virtually all switched off.

This works.

No alert noises and if you are zoomed out on the map the icons don’t appear. Good idea, just not ideal.

If you travel somewhere you’ve never been it can help you concentrate on the road rather than watching out for revenue generators. I’ve not done it just to break the law, just to keep me on the right side of it.

Thanks, Van

Took the A59 through to Gisburn and then down to Burnley before joining the M60/M62 into Manchester. I actually got up early and drove the long way just to enjoy the car. Still running in so not caning the car, but a thoroughly enjoyable drive. Even the PCM just working has put a smile on my face. It is as competent, in technology, as my Cayenne was, if just not as graphically as nice.

I took the orthodox M60/M62/M1/A1 roads back to Teesside this morning just as I had concerns over storm Freya. One thing I did notice was how suspeptible to road surfaces the tyres were. There was a stretch of road on the M62 where they must have had paint or cats eyes at one point and the noise/feeling was really bad and intrusive! I wouldn’t have noticed in the Macan/Cayenne. Still it was only a few hundred yard stretch and the rest of the journey was fab. My hip was stiff when I got out of the car but that will go as my physio kicks in.

I also think the pedals are slightly off to the left. Guess I’ll get used to that.

Still waiting to get my hands on my 2019 Macan S, but I'm amazed that this function / data is not standard, especially as the latest PCM is "real time"! Is there no subscription option (like TomTom = very modest cost!), or is this just a case of Porsche not wanting any legal backlash - I know this is illegal in France!

If the new macan pcm is anything like the Cayenne then there is no option to upload the camera information. The button is missing from the Porsche portal page. As for Porsche adding them real time, you would need someone dedicated updating the list on a regular basis or the false alerts would drive you mad. I guess Tom Tom can do it as they sell a product & plans that maybe justify time spent on it.
