The OPC was asking about a 2014 car, hence PCM3.1. Different update, as far as I know.

2019 maps have been released for 2014 vehicles in the last few weeks according to Porsche customer service. What a ballache it's been trying to find out the status of them, it's took close to a month.

It’s an absolute rip off isn’t it? Going to see if my friendly service advisor can give a bit of discount.

2018 map data is out. It was made/released 06.2018, but Porsche dealers only becoming aware of it from 11.2018. To this day some dealers still aren't aware of it. Absolute shambles of a system.

Anyway, it is a dealer only job. Unless you have the equipment.

Basically, you first need to do this:

1. Install the latest FW to your PCM or it wont take the map update.
2. Have a PIWIS tester to hand to enter a activation code which is linked to your VIN (this costs like £90)
3. Once the above is done, you can now insert the discs one by one, which believe it or not can take 2 to 4 hours.

You'll need:

1. FW disc (if yours isn't the latest FW)
2. Map data discs (they wont sell you them)
3. Piwis tester.
4. Activation code
5. A battery charger/stabilizer.
6. Patience.

So basically, its not really one for the home user.

I've got all the above, apart from the activation codes, these are obtained by a friend. If anyone has the piwis tester and wants the map data discs, shout me.

I've held off updating mine just now as most of the large infrastructure projects that have taken place in Scotland over the past few years aren't included yet. Pretty poor from Porsche, it was my OPC that warned me about this as well!

Where are you located though? Just incase it's close enough I could make use of it all in the meantime

Does anyone know what is the version number of the updated Nav? Mine was supposed to have been updated when it went in for the extended warranty checks etc in February but is currently reading ‘whatever the long number is’ 2017/2018. Am I smelling a rat here?

What sparked my concern was that it didn’t register at all the new ring road to/from Bristol Airport. Just showed us going cross-country!
