Nuclear Nick wrote: Fri Apr 26, 2019 5:45 pm Update: The Macan went in to the OPC yesterday for the planned nav update. I took with me the new information Dandock had obtained from Porsche GB regarding the current version and SD part number (9P1 909 000 T) as well as the forthcoming 2019 update part number (9P1 909 000 AL), expected next month.

Things had changed for the update yesterday too. Instead of requiring a DVD and licence key that he had been told previously was necessary for my car, all that was necessary was to load the SD card they’d already been provided with. They had used that in the 911 a couple of weeks ago. So a couple of hours later I have an updated nav database, the version date has changed from 2016/2017, which is what the car came with, to 2017/2018. The new version date is consistent with what PGB had said about the data on this SD card.

In the meantime, the SA had received confirmation from PGB that the 2019 update will be available in about four weeks. The SA has placed an order for the new part number SD card and we will arrange to have that installed when it is available. We anticipate that will raise the version date to 2019.
Thanks for update Nick. So does yours now match mine - ie ending 2017/18 - or that from your 911 ending 2018?

The problem with the map year is that it shows the latest date of any single map. If you have Connect and do an over the air update you are limited to three maps. So even though only three maps are actually up to date, the version display will say 2019.

Agreed, that's what happened when I did an OTA update on the 911 a month or so ago.
But my Macan is non Connect and so only the OPC can do the update of the whole database in one go, using an SD card or similar device.

I asked them to update all the maps when it was serviced and they didn’t, citing that the version was already up to date! I will get them to it at the next visit.

When i took my Macan in for service on 2 May I was told that the 2019 PCM map update would be available via SD card at the end of May.

So I tel. my OPC today. In turn they spoke Porsche GB only to be told that there will be no future update[s] for non over-the-air set PCM ups!

See below response from Porsche GB to my Nav enquiry several weeks ago...

Dear Mr Wild

We do not have a specific release date, however update 9P1 909 000 T was released at some point in 2017. I understand this is now two years old and is not going to be the most up to date.

We have looked into future updates and it appears that there will be one released for your vehicle in May 2019. This will be available at your Porsche Centre. The Part number for it is 9P1.909.000.AL.

Kindest regards

^_^Thanks to Dandock, I have just had a call back from my OPC to say YES it is available after all. It was not listed by Porsche GB Parts Dept. under "Sat Nav" but "Technical". They have ordered this SD card and will advise me it's in and be able to do the job. Apparently it will take 2 hours to install and it takes a lot of battery power. So needs to be done at their premises.

I will report back once actually successfully installed......
