Hello All,

Took delivery of a new (to me) MACAN last weekend. Really liking the car so far. Couple of questions...

For info its a 17 year model and it doesn't seem to have a SIM slot.

The PCM NAV isn't working and Im guessing its because I need to register first?
Also, Can I use the hot spot / data plan on my phone rather than signing up to a Porsche service?

Welcome!

Difficult to say, but there is a possibility that you may not have the Nav module on the PCM depending on the actual build date........there is no need to register for basic Nav, only for connect / connect +, again depending on what your car is equipped with.

Hmm, OK, weird that it has Appleplay but not NAV.

Mines’ a 17 Macan. It had no SatNav, but it has CarPlay.

CarPlay (using Google Maps) is far superior to the Porsche Nav anyway ;)

You can have SatNav retrofitted at an OPC, but costs £2000 ish. Crazy money....

The Sat Nav module was a £1052 [inc VAT] option in 2017.

Did you ever figure out why the nav wasnt working as I am having the same issue and Porsche said to me that they removed the sat nav as it was so poor yet other cars seem to have it enabled which is bloody confusing!

As per your other post - it was optional back then so possibly never fitted. (Salesman bullshitting rather than saying he doesn’t know. You can’t “disable” sat nav)

It is possible to retrofit navigation from outside of Porsche.
Need to add GPS antenna and activation of navigation in PCM.

Slightly going off piste here and may sound like a Muppet but is it possible to fit your own SIM card witha data bundle that you have pre paid and would this be preferable to the Porsche online experience? I hope that makes sense?
I don't own an iPhone and really don't want to have to buy one unless I really have to
