We used standard going accross last month...and they put us upstairs.
Agree its a bit daunting with regards to visibility going up the ramp, but not a major issue ( unlike the X5 in front of us whe elected to drive the whole lenght of the carriage with one wheel on the " pavement"!)
Might consider the lorry carriage ....but do they go as regularly?

The two times I used the truck train, they actually waved us on early. Not saying that's normal, but I was pleased.

They are not truck / freight carriages. Freight goes in cages. 😱 They just lack the upper level and are wider inside and are for buses, caravans, vans, etc. They are part of the same passenger car trains. Each train is a mixture of carriages.

I managed to get my Range Rover (old style) safely into the double decker Eurotunnel carriages without too much difficulty many times.
British Approved Standard Technique Advisory Rangy Demo:
Drop air suspension to lowest setting and lock. Wind in wing mirrors. Open drivers window and stick head out. Listen for squeak as balloon tyres rubbed against off-side metal kerb. When squeak heard, shunt left a bit. Steer round loos every third carriage. When parked up drop rear tail gate for picnic. Job done.

Yes, but I call them truck carriages, because they're always full of ferraris, lamborghinis, buses and other large things.

Hmm, then you're lucky, we always seem to end up with a bus load of French teenagers. LOL
