SD, 19 months, 12.5k miles, black tips, no corrosion.

I've mentioned this before, but my car rarely gets washed and when it does, I coat the tips with silicone spray - seems to work?

No they won’t cover them on ext warranty which is nothing like the new car warranty coverage, primarily covers only major elements of the vehicle. Wouldn’t waste your time progressing my second pair have gone the same way as the previous, so l just live with it as most of the time they are dirty anyway 🤕😉

As I mentioned earlier, there is always the option of having them coated yourself, with one of the coatings on the market. A lot cheaper than having to replace them.

Getting mine replaced under warranty on Friday

Had a similar issue with an RS4. Carefully rubbed down the exhaust on the Audi, masked everything, and repainted with a rattle can of High Temp Gloss Black from Halfords

Finish was as good as factory, and lasted 3 years, longer than the factory finish. Was Plan B if Porsche said 'no'

Just putting in a warranty claim on my pitted black tips (2017 turbo, 13k miles)

I am thinking if this issue keeps recurring and OPC won't replace under extended warranty like they will under 3 year initial warranty I might be better off switching to chrome rather than black chrome.

Anyone done this?

I never had the black, but my chrome (specced from new) have absolutely no deteroration after 30m and 16k miles.

I had a similar issue on my (previously owned ) GT3 where paint was lifting from the 'back plate'. Tips removed, back plate rubbed down, tips masked and the plate sprayed with Halfords high temperature black paint. Looked like new :D

Yep that might be an option too, i do prefer the black look to the silver

this stuff?

do you need to prime or just spray straight on?

stupid question alert - what do you mean by "back plate"? Assumed I would remove the tips (think its one screw), rub THEM down and spray
