😡 Start again!

As mentioned before we are travelling across France in early summer. I have bi-xenons so what spare bulb kit do we take?

The 'if anything' i thought was a 'must carry. Got 'stung' for €100 in Spain a few years ago for slowing but not 'stopping' at a junction on a country road. We all know how much French Plod love rostbif in nice cars! I don't want to be pulled again for a triviality.

Just had read of the 2014 thread so it'll be a bog standard Halfords set. Dandock2017-03-12 17:46:41

It could be worth asking at a dealer, or even a French dealer on arrival in France.

According to the AA. ..

It's compulsory to carry:
ï‚· Warning triangle (not required on motorcycles)
ï‚· Snow chains - you must fit snow chains when driving on snow-covered roads
in accordance with local road signs. A maximum speed limit of 31 mph
(50km/h) applies.
ï‚· Reflective jackets (EN471)
o You must carry at least one reflective jacket within the passenger
compartment of your vehicle and must put it on before you get out in an
emergency or breakdown situation.
o Since 1 January 2016 riders of motorcycles must also wear a reflective
jacket in the event of an emergency or breakdown.
ï‚· Breathalysers
o Drivers of all motor vehicles including motorcyclists but excluding
mopeds, must carry one unused, certified (showing an 'NF' number)
breathalyser in their vehicle.
o Check that any single use breathalysers you're buying or that you used
for a previous trip are still in date.
o We recommend carrying two single-use breathalysers so if one is used
or damaged you'll still have a replacement to produce.
o The fine for not carrying a breathalyser has been postponed indefinitely
(an on the spot fine of €11 was due to be implemented on 1 March
2013).
ï‚· See other rules/requirements (below) for information on Low Emission Zones/Stickers
Other rules/requirements in France and Monaco
ï‚· You must not use headphones and headsets (any device that is attached to the ear) when driving.
o This applies to all drivers and riders for phone calls and also listening to music/radio etc.
o Bluetooth or integrated systems in a motorcycle helmet are still permitted.
ï‚· It's recommended that you carry a spare set of bulbs.
ï‚· It's recommended that snow tyres (marked M&S) are used on roads covered
with ice or snow. These must have minimum tread depth of 3.5mm.

SO... RECOMMENDED not OBLIGATORY

Correct Mike, and whilst it's mandatory to carry a breathalyser (and spare) the penalty for non-compliance is still a zero fine!

Wonder what they say if a car is equipped with LED headlights? They last for the lifetime of the car and can't even be changed and have no "bulbs".

A few years ago a friend was driving his brand new GT3RS home wearing its track day tyres when it started to rain. Shortly afterwards he got stopped by the police and obviously thought the worst. They walked around the car a few times then told him it was beautiful and that they only wanted a look! 😂😂😂

I think the reflective jacket is 1 per passenger. It is only 1 if you are in the car on your own

I'm sure there is a lh/rh setting in settings, between Macans right now so can't check, and just found this from forum member mark-yorkshire .....

From the good to know app - Headlight Adjustment

Adjustment of the headlights should only be performed at a specialist workshop with suitable adjustment equipment.
Adjustments are made with the vehicle ready to drive and the fuel tank completely full.

Changing headlights from left to right-hand traffic

The headlights must be changed on the multi-function display:

Please refer to chapter "CONVERTING HEADLIGHTS FOR LEFT/RIGHT-HAND TRAFFIC (PORSCHE DYNAMIC LIGHT SYSTEM)".
The message "Light left-hand / right-hand traffic converted" will appear on the multi-function display whenever the ignition and dipped beam headlights are switched on.

On the return journey, do not forget to readjust the headlights.

So if you were to be pulled over by a 'friendly' gendarme, you can show him the adjustment, no need to carry a bulb kit.
