Retired,

Have you checked with your insurance company that they will be paying the full amount, including re-calibration?

From my experience when my windscreen cracked, I was only covered for the replacement windscreen, paying £75 excess only. However, if I wanted the lane departure warning re-aligned I would have had to pay the £1000 fee.
I am sure you have probably had confirmation but it would be horrible to find that out after.

Thanks for the concern / heads up!

Obtained a written quote from OPC detailing all parts, operations and costs. Emailed a copy to insurer (NFU) who OK'd it the same day.

I have to pay £75 for using my own repairer rather than £50 if I go with Autoglass who are NFU's preferred windscreen company.

Interesting comments. I have just had NFU tell me they don't want to pay for the wheel alignment which is itemised on my windscreen replacement. This is part of the camera alignment, so should be part of the whole process. I have pointed this out and am waiting to hear.

Using an OPC?

Is that a complete equipment list? E.g LED lights. PDSL+ and so on?

Insurance company? Did you pay and reclaim or did insurance deal with repairer?

Total cost?

Bringing all the info in one place will make it more useful.

An update on my NFU windscreen claim. In summary:

Obtained written quote from OPC ( the whole nine yards, four wheel alignment for sundry cameras, lights etc. about £1800). Called NFU, emailed them the quote and they agreed the claim the same day. Made sure quote made it clear the alignment work required as part of the windscreen replacement.

Work done by OPC, I paid the bill and emailed receipted invoice to NFU.

NFU paid the claim a couple of days later by transferring the money, less the £70 excess, into my bank account.

NFU made the whole thing painless.

I'm not with NFU, but I am glad that it all worked out well for you, Retired.

£1800 sounds a lot. Mine was done at OPC for just under £1200. I suppose I live further from London!
