My new Macan SD's front heated seats are displaying some strange behaviour. When the button is pressed to switch them on the 3 LEDs illuminate then immediately go out, and no heating. I've been told that this may relate to the internal/external temperature being too high but 4 degrees is pretty cold first thing in the morning! So far in my first month of ownership I've managed to get them to work only a few times.

Is this normal or do I need to have it looked at? Never had this problem with previous BMWs or my wife's SQ5 where you just press the button and the heating works.

Certainly not normal for our two.

They get a bit too warm for me at times so I've specced the seat ventilation too.

Very good idea.. my wife has her seat on full heat and my seat is on full air con ventilation when I'm driving

Plus you get thicker leather on the ventilated seats so less wear and tear on the bolsters. Win win

My seat heating comes on with three leds on the first press, each subsequent press turns one led off. They heat up quickly and after about a couple of minutes we reduce it to one led then eventually off.

You have faulty seats I think. Mine work as expected with 1, 2 or 3 bars

I agree they are faulty - I use them at any temperature - sounds like they are tripping off - is it the same for both seats?

Absolutely not normal at all. Another one where my wife will put them on all year round.

Just as I thought, looks like a trip back to the OPC. Its the sae on both sides and it seems to have gone from occasionally working to not at all now, 3 lights on then off pretty much instantly. Other than this and a rattle that's just started from the passenger side dash the car is superb.

Thanks for the help .

As others have said, that is not normal. For what it's worth I saw the exact same behaviour you describe on my old BMW i3's driver heated seat when it went faulty - needed a new heating pad in the end if I recall.
