Whilst cleaning the car today, noticed something for the first time.
On the near side rear small window, there appears to be a heating element.
No such element on the equivalent offside window.
Can't be bothered to delve through the manual for any information and haven't yet checked when, or if, this little window actually demists.
But assuming it does and the apparent element is not just decorative ~ why? Is it really going to help reversing when steamed up?
Is it on the near side for RHD and on the offside for LHD Macans?

S with an oil-burner engine and a few extras.

I'd reckon that's an aerial R850R.

Yes I noticed this on collection. I'm guessing it's an aerial too. Initially. I thought it was a heating element but why would this be installed on one side only.

I'd put money on it being an aerial.

It's a heating element to clear the side window that becomes steamed up if your dog is in the boot and breathes on the little window.

In true German fashion the dog must be facing out to that side of the car and also must be German Shepard breed only MCDK2017-05-08 10:39:40

Thanks to all identifying this as the antenna; obvious when I thought - Doh !
Took quite a bit of online searching though to confirm. Seems the North Americans get (or got) a sharks fin antenna. The massive Euro parts list did show this:-
Thus available with or without antenna ?
It is linked to this image:-
Item 8 it is then.......

Yep, the aerial. And the tip I had from my dashcam provider was don't route your dash cam cable down that side of the car. Otherwise you are likely to get interference on the dash cam......
