Car Cover
My car has to stay on the drive as the bike (BMW R1200RT) prefers the warmth of the garage. So I was thinking of buying a car cover. Does anyone have experience of car covers and any recommendations?
So when is this ‘old enough to know better’ supposed to kick in ?

I haven't tried one but apparently outdoor car covers have potential to cause damage due to the wind moving the cover against any dirt that may be left on the vehicle, hence scratching the paintwork. Hence you should only put an outdoor cover on a freshly cleaned car, and even then dirt can find its way betwixt car and cover and cause problems.
Maybe invest in one of those 'mini-garage' bike storage solutions for the RT, or simply stick it in the lounge

Thank you for the advice. I think that upon reflection I will invest in some high quality polish and let the paint protect itself. The RT is tucked up in its blanket and does not want to be disturbed until the Spring.

Don't bother. A quality one on my Jag with a soft interior retained all sorts of twigs etc blown by the wind, I was fortuntate to get the scratches out.
A solution ...... The bike goes into the living room, why not? And treat yourself to a car wash set up and do it as often as required.

I can imagine that putting this photograph here is heracy, but it does remind me of a nice warm day on the Horse Shoe Pass near Llangollen ...

A huge top box and no panniers? Must be interesting when the wind gets hold of it!

... but on the plus side much easier to thread through traffic, and of course it stops your wife falling off the back!
