Just had my first little scrape on my Agate Macan S - just the paint on one of the rear door handles. No damage to the handle but the paint scraped about 3 inches - not worth posting a photo.

I rang the Tonbridge OPC who gave me the Porsche Authorised Body Shop story (located in Crawley BTW). I then asked if they used a SMART repair service and was advised to contact Flying Colours. He wouldn't give me the number of the local franchisee they use, so I called FC myself.

I then experienced about 4 days of appalling customer service where they faffed about asking me to send a photo, then passing the details on to a franchisee, (in Essex), who never phoned, or answered the messages I left for him.

In frustration, I spoke personally to my SE at Tonbridge and he was pleased to give me the number of the Flying Colours fella who visits every Wednesday and attends to the minor scratches on all their cars.

Phoned him directly (he's in Whitstable) and he said if I brought it to the OPC myself this morning, he'd do it first thing. So I did and this morning sat enjoying a free cup of OPC coffee while he resprayed the door handle in the carpark. The result is perfect - and cost £40.

I would be delighted to share his contact details with anyone interested.

That is a remarkably reasonable price - having dealings with Ding Master and Dent Magic recently I can confirm these organisations are all run by disorganised people :( A case of finding the lesser evil when dealing with these 'trades'

Good result. Sounds like you got charged the dealer bill price which is great. Did the OPC know or ask why you had showed up and their guy was doing your car in the car park?

I’d like to find out who Guildford OPC use, but I haven’t spotted him yet.

That's a great result Old Pilot.

I used Chips Away www.chipsaway.co.uk to repair 3 x stone chips on my Macan's front bumper. Their two man mobile van came to my house from 50 miles away and did a great job with perfect colour matching for £120 inc VAT. :D I should add it took them 4 hours to very carefully do the job.

in comparison REVIVE want £245 to do the same job, but had no operator in my area!

Chatting with the the Chips Away franchise operator that did this job, I was impressed when he said that they will not attempt any stone chips on the bonnets of Porsche cars as "that requires a specialist bodyshop for that sort of work as it involves a full bonnet respray to ensure a perfect finish".

Good result too. The problem with ChipsAway et al is that they are franchises so only as good as the individual doing your car - which is fine if you have a good one. If I can find out who does the work for the OPC then there is some comfort that the quality is good and they know any nuances of SMART repair on a Porsche.....

Totally agree and my first question to them; the franchisee i used does work for two OPCs.

CharlesElliott you may well be right. If you read my post again, you'll see that I got the run-around from everybody until my SE actually gave me the number of the nearest franchisee. This guy covers the whole of Kent - the next one is in Essex. He comes to Tonbridge every Wednesday to attend to Porsche stuff and because I contacted him directly, he did me too. My SE wasn't bothered - he made his commission on the car!
