Bad stone chip
Any advice for this stone chip dent that must have been cause by a large stone? I wasn't in the car so no idea and wife vaguely remembers a large clunk. So far I am told it will need the whole bonnet repainted, which I feared. I am in North Herts. To help orientate the photo it is near the front between the light and the bonnet line.

Hopefully not, but it might be worse than a full bonnet respray should you decide to have it done "professionally".
A lunatic white Merc Sprinter van doing 90+ on m/way drifted towards the centre Armco and sent up a chuck of rock which caused a dent like yours in the bonnet of my Macan. Being aluminium, I was told the dent couldn't be straightened from the inside due to the degree of Al 'stretch'. Filler was not advised due to the inevitable flexing of the huge Macan bonnet - "the feathered edges will lift".
The quoted price for new bonnet & respray was, as expected, somewhat expensive
There followed some weeks of cogitation about whether to risk a cheaper repair (e.g. ChipsAway) as others would have no doubt found satisfactory.
Some while later, I was hit head-on in a minor collision which required a new bonnet etc anyway.
Even if prepared to accept a less than 'totally invisible' repair for even minor stone damage, it's the knock-back on trade in price that's the sod. I heard it when I p/ex'd my Audi for the Macan....."We're going to have the bonnet resprayed before we can resell it.....and unfortunately it's metallic paint.....(sucks air through teeth)....... going to have hold back £500 on the p/ex I'm afraid".

You haven't said how new your car is, which might affect which path you go down.

The car is 2yrs6mnths old paid cash new and I intend to keep it a long time. I am soon getting a electric run around for my wife so it will be kept for just long journeys, holidays and weekends. Whatever I do I will wait until then to get it fixed. I'll get a few quotes and try and find an alu specialist in case they can straighten it.
I did have a gouge in the front lower bumper that my wife did on a gate post repaired by chips away and they did an excellent job but in a much less conspicuous area. Sadly I think this is beyond local chips away.

Just got a quote from a Porsche approved repairer based on photos. Small change from 2500 mostly labour, ouch! I am sure the quote is reasonable for a high quality repair so now I just have to decide how important it is to me, as I am keeping it long term.

Quite a few Macan bonnets always on Ebay for a few hundred. A good body shop will spray and you'd have plenty left from £2.5K.

I have got a quote of 120 for PDR just to remove the dent and then I am left with just a standard stone chip, which is much easier to live with. I can then just apply touch up and it goes from a 5m fault to a 0.5m fault, which I can live with.
