Washed the car the other day and found a chunk out of one of the spokes of my SportDesign wheels. It's close to the centre, so isn't kerb damage (and indeed, thanks to Surround View, I haven't had any kerb damage in 4 years). Might a stone from another vehicle have done this?
What might have caused this damage?

How spooky! I have today found very similar damage on one of my alloys, and am equally puzzled as to the cause!
I have been quoted £54 to repair which is not bad.

Zooming in, that looks as if something sharp has pierced it and driven a flake off, rather than just a blunt impact like Makanik's. Curious, can't be something thrown up by your wheel, maybe a passing vehicle..andreas wrote: ↑Tue Oct 26, 2021 5:19 pm Washed the car the other day and found a chunk out of one of the spokes of my SportDesign wheels. I took the wheel to a recommended local repairer this morning. I asked whether they'd fill the damaged area before repainting, but the guy said that the damage was only to the powder coat finish, which apparently is quite thick. Now waiting with bated breath....

That's a surprise, it sure LOOKS deeper than that, but not really a threat to the overall integrity of the wheel.

I agree it looks deeper than just the powder coating.
Hope you get it back as good as new.
