Is that for a new car warranty or the Porsche approved warranty? It can’t be for a new car as you don’t even have to use an OPC for servicing but you do for the approved.
Actually you don’t have to use OPC for any warranty. It is deliberately ambiguous wording but in a nutshell it means a claim could be denied if the failure in question can be proved to be CAUSED by the non OPC service.
I looked into this extensively and have even spoken to Porsche GB before booking my wife’s Boxster into an Indy.
Yes, correct Jon, but the wording isn’t ambiguous, it’s quite clear, at least it is for the extended warranty I have for the 911. The defect for which a claim is being made would have to have arisen directly as a result of not complying with each and all of the exclusions. One of those is not using an OPC for servicing so Porsche would have to show that say, an indie, caused the defect through incorrect service work. Other exclusions say that everything has to be done ‘in accordance with’ and that all campaigns and recalls have been done, so you’d have to be sure that the indie had completed all those too.

Sorry for the slight topic drift, again, but in this case it’s pretty unlikely that non N rated tyres would directly cause a defect. But as with all these conditions, sometimes for peace of mind it might just be sensible to stick to the recommendation.
Spot on Nick as always 👍
Re recalls, our Boxster has a recall outstanding to “check boot lid hinges and re spray if necessary” due to some showing signs of corrosion. I have declined this as I have checked and they are fine and don’t want to leave car with OPC for the day for them to tell me the same.
If the hinges failed due to corrosion then that’s on me, but to be clear, if the turbo fails for example, that’s on them (warranty) and my failure to have the boot hinges checked are not relevant.

A couple of times I haven’t been able to get the BMW approved Pilot Sport tyre for my car and have had to fit the very same tyre but without the ‘star’ that denotes BMW approved.

tbh, I didn’t notice any difference in handling or grip as a result.

Are the Macan tyre sizes generally easy to get hold of?

I didn't have a problem getting N tyres for my Turbo, and N tyres for my GTS seem widely available.

I replaced the PZeros on the 718 with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S after the first set of Pirellis went (13k from memory?). Michelins much superior in my opinion - Less harsh, especially in colder temperatures. At the 20k service the SA noted out of spec tyres on the service list as not being N rated. I'm on19". The 20" in the same tyre as fitted to the GTS is N rated, but the 19" is not. Replaced that set yesterday with more PS4S- car now on 42k.

I hope so, mine are just about done at less than 8.000 miles!

Blimey, that's good going!
