New Brakes for Turbo

My Turbo is approaching 26000 miles and while my wife drives it most of the time she is a moderate speed cruiser and relies on the brakes.
My OPC did a detailed check only 3 weeks ago. Discs 35% worn front and rear with PTV+
PADS 40%...

I asked when is a renewable mileage indication.
Service manager of Cardiff and Bristol said 40-50k miles or more and when the brake pad warnings pop up.

Had an estimate of £750 for pads and £1200 for discs including Vat so 2k for a full set via OPC jonmacan2017-04-03 21:13:06

Rear pads should be pennies via europarts they're probably off a 1.8 diesel Q5...

I put aftermarket pads and discs on an old 986 a few years ago. Never again. The braking was fine, but the brake dust was absolutely terrible.

A turbo has both larger front and rear brakes than an S.
A GTS has turbo front brakes but S rear brakes.
A turbo pp has larger front brakes again and same size rears as a standard turbo.

Is it normal to expect to have to also replace the discs when the pads are worn?

Or would the discs usually be expected to last over the life of several sets of pads?

Strange that Happy Days - I replaced the discs & pads on my Gen 2 Boxster S and had the same problem with Pagid pads - brake dust was horrendous. Since sold the car but will remember to use genuine pads next time

I'd advise anyone being told to replace discs to at least check the width. I've been told they need changing because they have a bit of a lip on the outside when only half worn.
First time I had to replace my front discs I picked them up and was amazed by the weight, price per Kg wouldn't appear too bad! This was on a car with special alloy wheel nuts to save mass but 10Kg for a brake disc was deemed the minimum.
As time goes on we'll definitely have a wide range of pad options, they vary. Some squeak, some last for ages, some withstand trackdays, soft will usually be dusty, hard might wear discs faster.
Looking at sales volumes for the Macan worldwide I anticipate a wide range of aftermarket parts in five years time.

Suspect PTV+ speeds brake wear but that should presumably impact pads more than disks.
