So, this year I bought a set of 18" Macan wheels and winter tyres and all I can say is - outstanding.

Yesterday, I was out in the snow at around 5pm in Somerset just as everybody was starting to get into trouble. I saw articulated lorries with wheels spinning trying to get up shallow inclines, ordinary cars stuck on hills, accidents at junctions. Shortly after I got home, the the A36 I was travelling on was closed where I had just driven. I managed to drive round all the obstacles placed in front of me!

My Macan was seamless. I could overtake, drive in the snowy lane of the dual carriageway, stop and go wherever I wanted. I kept testing the brakes when in a clear area to get a feel fo rthe stopping distance. It was great to feel confidence that I was fully in control of the situation. Then I could concentrate on making sure nobody else got anywhere near me.

The only thing that would have caused me trouble was if the other traffic had got stuck and blocked my path or a snow drift.

When I have finished off the rubber on my set of all-seasons on my 19" Macan Turbo wheels, they will be getting a new set of summer tyres.

Good to hear. :)

I'll give serious thought to buying some winter tyres for my new Porsche later this year... :geek:

As I've said before, our 4x4 Yeti on winter tyres has been absolutely amazing in snow. Goes anywhere, no drama, gives complete confidence. Once you've experienced winter tyres in these conditions there's no going back in my view.

I haven't ventured out in the Turbo yet on its winters.....

It might sound like overkill but my A6 runs all-seasons in summer and then full winter tyres in the winter and gets driven pretty hard. I'm planning on doing the same on the Macan. The all-seasons in summer are really for the rain, mud and the odd time it has to go off road. Depends where you live I suppose, but in rural northamptonshire this seems to work.

I appreciate it wasn’t very far and the roads were fairly empty but we came back from our local eatery last night at around 10ish, 5 up, and I was still impressed with my 20” summer-shod GTS......must be down to the driver....πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

In all seriousness there were some really awful examples of how not to drive in snow; great entertainment from the pub window throughout the meal and thankfully no-one hit anything (or anyone!)
