Has anyone seen wheels like this? Is this normal? Would not have expected this from a 1.5 year old Porsche with 11k on the clock...

Certainly looks like those discs have had a hard life. Mine looked a heck of a lot better at 23000 miles.

Thanks, any suggestions how to revive the discs, I tried to sand along the edges a bit and it seems to help.

If you are confident that the brakes are working fine, then I'd leave them alone.

If you're not sure whether the brakes are working OK, either ask the dealer to check or go to a local independent garage - perhaps do both if you want a second opinion.

If I leave mine outside in the rain without using, then the discs rust quickly (and it looks very unsightly) but this is soon cleared away with a quick blast and some normal braking. It's just as bad if I put the car in the garage while still wet. If I do put it in the garage wet then I try to leave the garage window and door open until it has had a chance to dry. There's a lot to be said for car-ports that allow your car to dry naturally in the breeze whilst still protecting in from the worst of the elements. Very popular in Denmark, for exactly that reason!

Working surface of the disc looks shot to me, usually due to brakes not being used hard or often enough. Once rust gets embedded like this nothing other than a full skim will get rid of it. Having said that if you don't drive the car quickly or brake excessively they will stop the car adequately enough.

I do use the car everyday, and brake hard, was trying to get rid of surface rus by braking hard downhill but it did not help, I suspect some particles got stuck on the brake pads itself, hard to get ris of...braking power seems fine.

Hi - do you use a ferrous remover (fallout remover) when washing your car? It looks like the winter has been particularly harsh on the fallout and has pitted the calipers and discs.

Have you had the car from new and driven it the same way from then?

After 4 weeks away mine looked worse, went on a run hard breaking regularly and now working well. Discs are made of cast iron which in this weather will rust rapidly. Have a look at any car and they will show the same .
