Original Tyres are Pirelli P-Zero - rears are done, fronts only have 1-2 mm left so am going to change all at once - I have ~16k Miles done on them.

Was hoping for a but more wear so started to look around - have option of Michelin Pilot Sport 3 - anyone used these before?

Will read a few reviews to see what they say - also in the mix could be Continental Sport Contact 5.

Am looking for something with a bit better wear but also good grip...

Thoughts?

So are you saying that the rears have less than 1 to 2 mm? And the fronts are 1 to 2 mm but you seem to be saying that they are ok to use but that you might as well change them all at once? Not only that but you've worn them out in only 16k miles. Is the car tracked every day? I hope you don't use the car when it's raining as it must be pretty close to aquaplaning all the time, especially driving them that hard.

BTW, Michelin Pilot Sport 3 are not on the Porsche list of approved tyres for the Macan, only the Latitude Sport 3, the P-Zeros and the Conti SportContact 5P.

Oh, and I'd go with Michies every time.

Miles per set of tyres is the wrong criteria to be at the fore in choosing a set of tyres.

I ran P Zeros on the Jag that I ran for 11 years and a set lasted 30,000 miles of hard driving, far harder then I drive the Macan which is more like having Miss Daisy in the back seat.

The grip these Summer tyres had was superb, even in very wet, ice or snow.

Certainly the P Zeros had better low temperature performance than the Macan on Michelins.

Have had Michelin’s on the Macan’s and they are great, I only have 10,000 miles on the clock on the Turbo but they do not look like I will get more than 20,000 miles out of them.

Surely the ride, handling and performance braking in all weather conditions is far more important than how many miles one gets out of a set of tyres.

Hence in my opinon more research into the performance differences and a choice based on that is the way to go.

It is absolutely not free for black circles fitting. if you build an order with fitting and then without, the price can vary by as much as £20 a corner.

Spotted this when looking for tyres for the wife's GTD. I had always assumed it was about £5-£10 for fitting, but spotted that it was much more and ordered them separately, then negotiated direct with the fitter. Saved me £20. Worth it.

Really need to get the wife to pay for her own tyres...would save me much more!

When I sold my last Macan last month the all season 20” Michelins still had 5mm left all round at 23000 miles

Thanks all for the replies - I am certainly swinging more to the Michelin - will have to check the Latitude v Pilot Sport 3 just to be sure....

Service booked for Friday next week so have a few more days to decide so they have time to order in...

Cheers

New boots now on - The Michelin look good, think the lip is slightly bigger to protect the wheel...

Haven't done many miles yet - just bedding them in but felt good on drive home...

That's my 2 year service complete, with new boots & wipers to keep me going hopefully for another 2 years!
