At a Pre service body check the rep Recently noticed these white brush like scratches on my black classic alloys.
They are in the same place on all 4 wheels and just at the bend.
They look like very light brush strokes.
I would love to know the cause in case it’s something I’m doing!
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

?
Has the car ever been on a low loader? Inside like that, and on all 4 it could be strap rubs?

Paul,
Not to my knowledge and it’s on every segment some worse than others.
When the wheels are dirty it’s unnoticeable
And no major mechanical damage just light marks.

Scratches from an animal perhaps?

I have light scratching on the top of my rear bumper (the lip below the boot) that I am convinced was caused by an animal (cat or pine-marten, perhaps) that liked jumping up onto my car when it used to be kept in an underground garage.

That’s really odd to have it on all 4 wheels

Has it been in for a service or something similar?
I was thinking something used to wash the wheels with that may have caused it but I would then expect to see marks all over the wheels.

If you run your nail along the scratches has it gone through?

I would guess animal marks of some sort but it is only a guess

Been anywhere with deep gravel on the ground. The stones can easily cause damage as the wheels sink into the gravel especially when turning.

We do have a few local cats and no deep gravel that I can remember.
The car was in for service and was cleaned.
I was hoping someone on here might recognise the same type of scratches which might help narrow down the cause.
Next step is to contact alloy repair company see if they might know.
Dealer has quoted £150/ wheel for repair.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Had exactly the same issue on my wife's JCW. I suspected someone's shoe on one of the wheels whilst washing the roof?
Luckily my detailer managed to polish them out!!

Have you had new tyres on the car? Could be scratched when fitting new tyres.
