Rim protection
I was out there yesterday and alonside a Panamera at the lights. It was on a personalised plate but looked like new, it had the 911 21" wheels and they were badly scuffed at the rim. They're on my spec and that has been a niggling worry, the worry being that the low profile tyres bring the rim below the level of the kerb when parking. I believe that issue is accentuated with Pirrelli tyres and I believe it is possible to ask for Michellin tyres which have a more symathetci profile. I suspect I am too late for that as my car should now be in the factory compound in Leipzig. Another option is Alloygator (Singles 21 Inch £20). Are they easy to fit - do they look OK - do they work?

It’s not possible to specify a tyre make during the build, you’ll get what you get.
Pirelli tyres have a raised ‘kerb’ bead around the tyre wall but that will not prevent damage from anything more than a slight rub.
The best defence is not to specify big wheels and low profile tyres, but of course lots on here prefer form to function.
Some members have used rim protectors, try a search, but others have said they can trap dirt and cause scratching.

Fitting Alloygators not for the faint hearted, though they do have specialist fitters but what happens when you need a tyre changePersonally don’t like them. Reminds me of my dear old grandma’s new sofa (she left the as delivered plastic wrapping on in order to protect it

Machine Polished Wheels
Our product is not recommended for machine polished or diamond cut alloy wheels. Although fitting the product will provide superior protection against kerb damage, if there are existing imperfections in the lacquered wheel surface, it
may increase the risk of moisture retention and accelerate wheel lacquer degradation. Providing there is no minute damage to the wheel surface, fitting the AlloyGator wheel rim protectors will not cause damage on its own, however AlloyGator Limited accepts no liability if the product when fitted causes such damage.

I find 2" of fresh air between my wheels and the curb generally help?
Failing that, £60 a corner will usually get a proper wheel strip/repair and repaint, if you shop around.

I fitted these to my 911 GTS rims. They have already saved me from a light brush to a rear rim.

Thanks - I wonder if that box contains enough for 1 or 4 wheels - I'll call them tomorrow and askRab J wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2019 10:11 pm I fitted these to my 911 GTS rims. They have already saved me from a light brush to a rear rim.

Yes the box contained more than enough for four 20" wheels. I would say enough for 21" Without close examination they are all but invisable on my rims. i am very pleased with them.Fairynuff wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2019 6:32 pmThanks - I wonder if that box contains enough for 1 or 4 wheels - I'll call them tomorrow and askRab J wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2019 10:11 pm I fitted these to my 911 GTS rims. Thanks for that - on the subject of appearance I note that they have a range of colours (why?) what colour did you choose that made them 'invisable'?
