All weather tyres
Am I being dumb here but as my S and many others were originally fitted with AS tyres then the original warranty must surely still apply.

They will be “N” rated Mike , just not full snowflake to comply with the latest Alpine regulations.

But presumably there is no warranty reason why existing AS tyres cannot be replaced by the same or compatible rubber - providing one is not contemplating driving in Germany during the prescribed period.

No, as long as they are N-rated. And you can still drive in Germany all year round, just not in 'wintery conditions'.Dandock wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2020 1:47 pmBut presumably there is no warranty reason why existing AS tyres cannot be replaced by the same or compatible rubber - providing one is not contemplating driving in Germany during the prescribed period.
There are a couple of tyres out there that tick both boxes .

I do not think you would be allowed to drive in Germany in winter on either of those because they do not have the alpine snowflake symbol?SWMacan wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 5:37 pm There are a couple of tyres out there that tick both boxes .

As I have said before on this forum I very much regret that Porsche has not yet given N approval to what a call a modern all season like Michelin Crossclimate that has the Apline snowflake symbol

Its that time of year again when we start thinking of winter tyres.
I see I posted on this thread already ... I've now got 43K miles on the Latitude all weather tyres, but I really need a new set of tyres.
Its clonking away and grumbling when maneuvering very slowly.
What's the latest think on this ...
Basically a want my cake and eat it, that means I want an all season tyre I can use in the alps.
But of course it has to have the "N" rating for the Porsche warrantee.
I think I'll nip down the local tyre shop.

Is it wrong to say that in nearly 40 years of driving ( including back in the good old days when all the news was about another ice age coming and we actually got snow ) I have never had winter tyres on a car and none of my friends or family have either? I totally get it if you are driving to the more snowy parts of Europe, but in the UK is there really any need?SilverTurfer wrote: ↑Tue Oct 26, 2021 11:02 am Its that time of year again when we start thinking of winter tyres.

+1
I understand the argument re stopping distance under certain temperatures but, like you, I struggle to see that the weather in most of the U.K. is consistently within their threshold for a sufficient amount of time to make it worthwhile. As their performance drops above that threshold are they actually offering any real overall advantage?
