My car will soon need new rear tyres, and I've been looking around for possible suppliers. I've found one in Essex which has a "Hunter Revolution" tyre changing machine, and I plan to buy from them. The Hunter machine is awesomely clever, watch the video!

Looks great, but its new and shiny. Give it a few years of daily use and it will only be a good as the maintenance done it. A bit of wear and tear, a few gremlins thrown in and it could be lethal. Only as good as the guy operating it in the end.

Great looking machine, always a worry, big relief when done!

As they are diamond cut wheels a full refurbishment will be needed. Unless you can live with it.
Does an incorrectly seated tyre mean the tyres stretched to fit the rim? All my tyres at manufactures specs etc, pics

Do you mean the lip of the tyre should come out further than the lip of the wheel? If it’s seated incorrectly would the tyres lose air slowly? Can any tyre shop check this and make sure it’s all done correctly - before I take it back to where the tyres were fitted?

Not so easy to see from the photos, Your initial post photo shows the bead partly correctly seated, but a section protruding. These new photos 1 and 2 [fronts?] of the complete assemblies do not look right. The bead should be located under the wheel flange for the entire circumference. Similarly picture 1 of the part view.

I suggest that you take it in to a reputable tyre dealer like ATS Euromaster,National Tyres or Kwik-Fit for a visual check by them. They can do any remedial work needed too.

I’ll have another garage look at it. Could maybe look incorrect as the tyre soap is still visible. Not sure.. how do you fix this, compress the tyre and add air or do the tyres need to come off again? I had the car aligned the day after the tyres were fitted and the garage made no mention of the tyre beading, different garage..

It's difficult to judge from the photos, given the presence of the lubricant from the fitting process. You should be able to tell yourself by looking carefully at the nearest reference line on the tyre to the rim of the wheel. This must be equidistant from the rim all the way round. On my winter Dunlops the nearest line is at the end of the radial lines similar to your Michelins and is about 5mm from the rim all the way round (20" SD wheels). You may need to clean off the lubricant to see this accurately. This line is what an experienced fitter would be checking if you took it somewhere for an inspection.

If the bead is still not sitting correctly after the car has been driven I suspect the wheels will need to come off and the tyres deflated and reinflated to get them seated correctly.

Had the car checked by farmers and Kwik fit today. Both gave the all clear
