Piano Black trim.

Noticed a small mark on the main dash trim yesterday and tried to rub it off with a micro fibre cloth. Now got a 10p sized set of circular scratch marks (very light).

Anyone know anyway to get these out or are they best left alone?

If ordering from new, I would go for one of the patterned alu/carbon finishes as the shiny black stuff is very sensitive.

Errr.... help! Very recently got a new Macan S and, on a road trip to see family this weekend and in haste, we went to a local hand car wash once there which we've used many times over the years with no issues. However, the roof rails have come out as per the photo - any suggestions as to (a) what's happened and (b) how to correct would be much appreciated.

I had that. The OPC cleaned it up at service. Blamed cleaning products. Not that I use many of them.

This can happen if a car is washed in direct sunlight when surfaces, especially dark ones, are very hot. Try a mild polish. If that doesn't work, a paint restoration polish followed by wax polish.

Nick’s advice is correct, looks like the impurities in the water fast dried in the sunlight. Really the only way to keep a car swirl and blemish free, especially with darker colours is to never use any local car washes AKA “Wash and Scratch😖” Best to leave the dirt on until you are able to do it yourself.

Luke, what a mess. I've got black roof rails, and washed it in Southern Portugal in 30+ heat, without any problems. As suggested it looks like the detergent used is the culprit. It's even on the roof at the rail side. As Nick suggested it should clean off with a mild polish, or black trim sheen.

Fantastic - thanks all for getting back. Sounds like it's not permanent damage then which is what I was worried about!!

Avoid supermarket "car wash boss?" at any cost, run away from sponges, chamois leathers and washing in direct sunlight.

Follow the guidance already posted on two-bucket, snow foam process. If you have an on-going issue with the rails, I would seek out a reputable car detailer who will resolve for you.

Hope it comes out OK
