Our local Sainsbury's (like many other supermarkets) has the usual gang of car washers. One trolley with water lasting God knows how many cars. Today I saw someone submitting his Volcano Grey Macan to their tender mercies. :o

That is not good.
The worst thing is they charge £15 to wash it with what looks like chocolate milkshake in the bucket.

My wife let a car wash clean our old car once. It wasn't a supermarket car park one, but might as well have been. Spent the afternoon afterwards trying to get my hands in behind the bumper to reattach the parking sensors that they'd pushed in. A year or so later, having mentally blocked out the comments I made about it, she took it again. Same result!

Needless to say, the Macan is only ever cleaned by me or our detailer.

I had the misfortune to park next to a car in Sainsbury's which was subsequently given their treatment. On our return, my car (then an Audi) was splattered with dried residue of crap & grit from their activities. SWMBO suggested finding the black hand gang and getting them to clean our car ("our" car ?). That idea was firmly rejected but I cursed throughout having to do it when back home.
I now know that they identify cars awaiting their wash & scrape by lifting up a wiper arm, so beware.

I don't think you can lift the arm unless you've left the blades engaged, so we could be lucky there.

About 2 months back I'd just washed mine and had to pop to the supermarket. It was gleaming, but the bloke still asked if I wanted it washed. He did have a smirk on his face to be fair...
