My favourite bit of this thread was the starting assumption that ‘working from home’ would provide a good opportunity to wash the car! [emoji16]

Haha! I thought the same.

But, I too was able to wash the car last Wednesday only because I was working from home that day.
Because I saved 3 hours of commuting time. ;)

This thread shamed me into getting the buckets out this afternoon. A thorough wash but no polish as it already has the ceramic coating on it. Yes, I did dress the tyres !

So when is this ‘old enough to know better’ supposed to kick in ?

Very nice Taz. Did you apply the coating or was this done professionally and which one was used?

Would you recommend having it coated and are there any negatives?

I had the coating applied by Finer Detailing in Rochdale. He thoroughly cleaned and clay barred the car before applying the coating.

It’s the first time that I have had a car coated like this but would now recommend it to anyone as it certainly does make the car look better and make washing easier.

How are you guys washing a Macan in an hour or even half an hour???

I spend over an hour washing, then about an hour and a half drying off, quick detailer, dress tyres, hoover inside etc.

Polish and wax is a mega job!

Speedy Gonzales.

When I do all that in one session it takes this old guy about 4 hours and then two days recuperation, with a course of co-codomol to ease the pain of my flared up arthrytis.

Car does look good though.

Wash, polish, wax & glass all took about 4hrs or so, wheels were done the day before, about an hour or so on them.

I use a water filter from Race Glaze for the final rinse on the car as it just sheets off and saves time and potential scratches from drying with a towel. I also bought a cheap leaf blower to blow the sitting water from the mirrors and doors, sad I know, but it works for me.
