I am looking at options for what I might put on my seats to potect them. Gyeon Leather Shield seems to tick all the boxes.

I read a rather worrying report on another product (carpro-quartz) where posters on the thread spoke of it changing the leather colour . . .

A review by the same person on the Gyeon product looked better . . . .

Has anyone any expereince (pros and cons) of this or know of a better product?

Those are not my seat by the way, my seats (same colour) are somewhere between Leipzig and Emden; they must be pushing it along the roads to get ther the time it's taking them to get it there!

I would avoid protection finishes. If it goes wrong you could have warranty issues with whoever applied it and Porsche won't want to know.

Even light coloured leather can be adequately cleaned and maintained with appropriate products, and from the warranty point of view you'd be safest with Porsche cleaner and leather treatment. Most of the time a wipe with a damp cloth will be sufficient.

This is what the manual says:

I have been using Zymol leather cleaner and conditioner (a bottle of each) for the last 15 years with no problems.

My Jag had Dove Grey leather and there was zero colour change.

For the last three years my two Macan’s have had Garnet leather and Zymol has been used regularly with no colour change.

I use both the Zymol products every month without fail with the last time being on the 30th March and since I was laying the Macan up for a few weeks I wanted to make sure that the conditioner was applied to add protection whilst the car is not used.

The vast majority of modern car seats (and sofas at home for that matter) are leather which is first painted to give the colour and then lacquered to protect it. No amount of snake oil is necessary or useful. As Nick says, a damp rag is normally adequate.

From Porsche website and the specific info on their own products that you can buy at your OPC.

Cleaner
Porsche leather cleaner thoroughly removes dirt and stains, without altering the original colour. The surface of the leather is therefore optimally prepared for subsequent treatment with the leather conditioner.

Conditioner
Porsche leather conditioner contains high-quality jojoba oil that permanently protects against aging and cracking. The highly-effective conditioning agents penetrate deep into the leather, thereby preserving its natural suppleness. Special sunscreen additives prevent bleaching as a result of UV rays.

Kind a suggests to me that the surface of the Porsche leatherwork is not sealed as Paul states is likely.

As I said I have been using the product I suggested specifically in my garnet Turbo and the leather feels and looks great.

I would suggest that black leather seating would not show the dirt and grime anyway compared to those of us who have lighter leatherwork and a damp rag may well work for them.

I have wondered a few times whether I am over-thinking this car, every other new car I have had I've just collected it drove it away. I blame you lot :?

😂😂

You can get a bit carried away....as you rightly say, the car is first and foremost to be driven!
