I've just taken ownership of a lovely 5 month old facelift Macan in Vulcano Grey purchased as Porsche approved used from an OPC, I just snow foamed and washed it to find some light surface scratches I can just pick out with a finger nail. This is my first Porsche I never had issues like this on my Audi's or Mercs, is some Porsche paint known to be prone to scratching easily. I didn't notice any scratches when looking around the car before purchase though they aren't that obvious without knowing where they are.

Depends a lot on how the previous owner washed the car or which Romanian Splash and Scratch outfit he used!!

Should be easily removed and then a careful wash technique will keep it good.

I'm looking into having it ceramic coated by a detailer...

Well worth it... the detailer will perform a full paint correction before"locking it in" with the ceramic. The Romanians will thank you for it. :D

As a Romanian I was offended at first, then remembered there's only one carwash I trust with my Macan in Bucharest :D

As for Ceramic Coating, it definitely helps..

My Volcano grey paint still looks like new after 15 months but only I wash it with quality shampoos and micro fibre mitts and drying cloths. Would never go anywhere near a £5 car wash place.

Was your car a dealer demo? Could explain a lot about the paint condition and the washing regime.

Hi not a demo but a service loan car which will have resulted in frequent washes by the OPC valeter. I'm in the process of booking an appointment with the local approved Gtechniq detailer to review the car and advise on the the best ceramic coat application. I'm looking at the Crystal Serum Light Black topped with EXO V4. The Crystal Syrum Light comes with a 5yr warranty and EXO V4 a 18-24mth warranty. Whilst not cheap it seems the best option for a car that lives outside and it covers the remaining 2yrs 7mths of the manufacturers warranty, I'll get rid before the warranty expires.

Had the same complaints on my macan. Only had it for two years from new, exact same treatment as my previous Range Rover and X5, and definitely had the weakest paint. More hairline scratches and stonechips. More or less perfect car otherwise though.

To be honest, if you’re only keeping it for another 2 1/2 yrs it’s not worth spending (?) £1000 - detailing has a strictly nil residual and unless you have the time and inclination to keep on top of it, you won’t see any benefit.
