Cars have ran for decades with simple dials. They rarely go wrong, and if they do it's an easy fix. 15 years down the line, the screen goes blank. Owner takes it to the few remaining independent garages, to be told they can't help.
They take it to Porsche who say it either needs a new unit, or needs a software update. The Units are out of stock, and the software is no longer used as it's deemed old tech.
This is where we are probably heading in the future.
Normally I'd agree 100% - I do like analogue dials for their legibility and IMHO they look classy. However I'd be happy to get rid of that useless speedometer. Give me one central analogue tachometer/power demand and digital the rest and I'd be grand
