Col Lamb wrote: Fri Jun 30, 2023 12:15 pm As there are over 1/2 a million recent Tesla owners in the USA the uptake of EV’s there does not look to be an issue.
So what % of US cars does that represent?

.... and when will you be replacing your Turbo with an EV then Col?
There’s over 278 million cars on US roads. I’m here at the moment and there are not many EVs about despite a few adverts on TV ;)

Tesla has over half of all the EV sales in the US, with the Model Y (the world's best-selling car) accounting for the biggest percentage.

A lot of the newer "electric forecourts" have the chargers under cover. And, of course, simply plugging in or unplugging is a lot quicker than standing holding a fuel nozzle for several minutes.

One of the few I suspect. None in the South West yet.

Better than having to deal with a dirty wet home charging lead too.

Yes, but that's hardly surprising as California has by far the biggest new car sales of any US state.

And just a ‘fashion’ statement like the Prius was.

Not much point in quoting 1/2 million with no context is there?

I'm not sure that's the case. The Toyota Pious was certainly a fashionable car. But Tesla sales are well over half of all the EV sales in California, so probably not a fashion statement.

Perhaps more lack of individuality and following the crowd, but I still think a fashion statement. No other State is quite like California. Very odd place.

But that doesn't include standing in front of the charger for several (many?) minutes fighting with a range of apps on your soggy wet phone trying to persuade the charger to connect and charge your car.
