The first image of the new Porsche Macan EV's interior has been released, showing off a high-tech design not dissimilar to that found in the new Panamera and Cayenne.

The Macan EV follows the Driver Experience control concept first shown in the Taycan. This means physical driving controls are grouped together, rather than being behind different menus on a touchscreen.
There are three screens in total. The first is a 12.6in driver’s display behind the steering wheel, which now houses in-built navigation with Apple Maps via Apple CarPlay and Google Maps with Android Auto. Drivers will also be able to control Porsche’s first head-up display with augmented-reality (AR) technology via the screen.

The central display is a 10.9in touchscreen complete with Porsche’s latest infotainment tech.

Then there's an optional 10.9in display for the passenger, who can adjust settings for infotainment or navigation, browse through media or stream video on apps such as TikTok.

New for the Macan EV is an extended use of interior ambient lighting.

Despite being anti-EV, I must admit that the more I see of it the more I like the evolutionary aspect shown. It is a Macan, not a Porsche EV SUV.

I will take it for a test drive and then decide whether the range and refuelling angst is a valid reason not to buy one.

I'm also interested in battery longevity and replacement costs ... hearing a few horror stories of early adopters (in other brands) faced with huge battery replacement costs or what happens in an accident if part of the battery is damaged, does the entire unit need changing or is it modular?

No surprise to see it’s the same as the new Cayenne (and Taycan) but without the hand holds.

Current optional extra with Cayenne, yours for £102. Looks like now carried over to EV Macan.

Never quite understood why you'd need handholds on the centre console.
