The HUD produces a virtual image which appears to be quite a way in front of the car, so that the driver doesn't have to re-focus their eyes to see it clearly. At its furthest distance, the virtual image appears as if it were 87" wide. This system has been available on Audis for a couple of years.

Then there's the delicate little problem of who wins the booby prize in the pass the parcel game later on in the cars life. The warranty on the battery pack is 8 years. I asked how much a new one is for the Taycan......£30k+, and the one in the Macan is going to be bigger.
Does seem odd that theoretically your car could be written off once the battery gets degraded :?
Many EVs are written off after an accident anyway, regardless of remaining capacity, particularly after a side impact.
Nobody can see into the battery pack at the insurance assessor stage so nobody is prepared to take the risk by saying it's ok.
So that's about £25-30k added to the repair cost before anything else is totted up.

That HUD does look pretty cool.

HUD is one thing that I would like to have been able to spec on my Macan but couldn’t.

The ‘true’ HUD system in BMWs is excellent (as opposed to the Mini ‘stick on’ system which is just OK).
