I'm with BrianR on this. If the "4" is intended to mean Gen 4, then the Turbo would surely have been called the Macan 4 Turbo? There's obviously a future intention to launch other variants, and a less expensive 2-wheel drive version would make a lot of sense (probably more sense than the 2-litre ICE car!). But at launch it's important to maximise revenue by only offering more costly versions.
This would make sense.

I suppose we will find out when the cheaper Macan 2 arrives :D
Probably room for a Macan 4S or even a 4GTS between the 4 and the Turbo, too
Then the Turbo S.

4-wheel-drive, as for 911s and Taycans. I guess there is room for a cheaper 2-wheel-drive model, but as for the Macan (non-S) diesel it may never materialize.

Macan 4 as in Carrera 4 etc. They already said there will be a two wheel drive version next year…

Col Lamb wrote: Fri Jan 26, 2024 2:09 pm There have been three versions of the ICE Macan.

Macan 1 released 2014 and updated slightly 2016

Macan 2 updated with rear lightbar and minor cosmetic changes plus engine changes

Macan 3 again cosmetic, restricted variants available, rubbish touch screen switches

Macan 4 full EV

So the numbering does make as much sense as any Porsche numbering system makes sense.
The variants available between Gen 2 and 3 were exactly the same engines they just changed the badges so no more/less restricted between Gen2/3 it’s just a branding/marketing exercise as originally the EV turbo was meant to become available sooner and run alongside ICE S/GTS. GTS gen 3 = turbo Gen 2
