As has been pointed out, 4 just means four-wheel drive. Unlike the existing model, Porsche explicitly using this implies that it could introduce a two-wheel drive model at a lower price point. While Porsche is unlikely to release all of these, this is how it typically names its models (in price point order):

• Macan
• Macan 4
• Macan T
• Macan S
• Macan 4S
• Macan GTS
• Macan Turbo
• Macan Turbo S

The Macan, Macan T and Macan S here would be two-wheel drive; the others four-wheel drive.

In terms of performance and model position, you're right. In terms of price, I based it on the two-wheel drive 911 Carrera T, which is more expensive than a Carrera 4 but cheaper than a Carrera S.

That’s what I didn’t know - that the T is more than a 4 in the 911 world

Had my first go in an EV today, a '73 plate Taycan GTS Sports Tourismo.

If the Macan EV goes anything like this hyperspace machine did, we're in for a treat.
The torque and pull off the line is swear word inducingly hilarious.
