I remember many, many years ago when I lived in Scotland as a student and worked in a filling station part time. All the petrol and diesel came from a refinery in Grangemouth and it supplied all of the makes, Esso, BP, Shell etc. The only difference was the additives that the various manufacturers used. At least that's what the tanker drivers used to tell me.

I know we all find our Macan diesel or petrol fits our needs perfectly but is it running at its best performance wise?
Most of us find our Dealers just dump cheapo fuel in our cars as cheap as they can find ( pretty sure my dealer does)
After not being able to fill my Macan with my regular shell fuel for the past 2 weeks I had to settle on texaco and questionable esso station.
Yesterday managed to fill up with my much preferred shell V POWER unleaded.
What can I say but "wow" have I strapped another Turbo under there
how much of a difference this stuff makes!
My nearest shell station is 15miles away but it certainly is worth a run out to fill up on this if you've never made a habit of it. And at 125p a litre it's a steal.
I Just think anyone who enjoys the performance of the Macan is missing out if you run ordinary cheap fuel.
Can't beat my red Diesel 😜

I use the nearest garage which happens to be Texaco and fill with their premium fuel when near home. When on the road I use the garage at the motorway service station or wherever I have stopped for a break, I don't care whose fuel it is.
Regarding different fuels, I believe there is a network of pipes around the country for moving fuel between major storage facilities and different companies batch flow their fuel through these to their distribution depots around the country, so they all get a bit mixed up, especially at the interface between batches.

A few months ago I ran a full tank of V-power through my wife's Mini Cooper 1500 D.
To my mind it felt 'much' faster.
So I decided to actually test the difference.
I ensured the payload was the same, and I used the same bit of road.
Neither day was windy.
I did a rolling start at 5 mph and using the digital speedo timed it to 60mph.
With V-power I could achieve 7.3 seconds.
A few weeks later I repeated the test with a full tank from Morrisons.
This time I saw 9.5 seconds.
Conclusion: We only ever use V-power in the Mini !
Previously I ran my past Macans on regular fuel - so now I guess I need to try them that on V-Power...

It seems the myths about fuel continue, is the the truth out there?
Doing only 6/7000 miles pa, I'll stick with the higher quality stuff.
I do know that one of my local Shell stations employs a very nice man named Richard, who fills cars for customers, however, their V Power Nitro+ Unleaded was £1.309/litre!

Now use Motorway service station fuel is for me a definate no go area.
It is always way more expensive than elsewhere are there is no reason other than greed for it to be so.
Its not as though the delivery tankers have to make much of a detour, from the refinery in Cheshire to the Sevice Station there is all of about theee miles so hardly any excessive delivery costs. Same for all other Mway service stations the tankers age going past them anyway.
