At first service (17k), at an independent garage, the mechanic noticed an oil leak at the back of the engine near the rear crankshaft oil seal. Has anyone had a similar problem or am I just unlucky.

I think you're the first person on here that I've heard of who's taken their (2 year old?) Macan to an independent, as opposed to an OPC for a service. :geek:

I had this on my old 987 Boxster but it was a common problem on those. First time I've heard of it on a Macan, is it Petrol or Diesel?

Wg Cdr,
It's a diesel. The independent is a specialist in high performance, expensive cars. I have used them for many years and trust them completely.
I wonder if the OPC would have told me, or let me carry on assuming that it was normal usage?

Hope you get this sorted under warranty, possibly easier if the service had been done at your OPC,keep the forum informed, personally if only for my peace of mind I have my vehicles serviced at the dealership whilst they’re still under warranty.

Interesting video clip.

So basically, all OPCs are dishonest...?

I would have thought any Porsche dealership would be more than happy to identify and sort this sort of problem as its work for their garage paid for by central Porsche.
The local Audi dealership are asking to do an end of warranty check on my wife's TT, no doubt to please the customer by spotting any problems and getting them sorted while the warranty is still current and getting a bit of well paid for work for the dealership.
